Four concepts of learning will help you in tutoring: motivation, association, repetition, and use of senses.
- Motivation: Effective learning does not occur without motivation. Knowing your student helps you find personal references that may help less motivated students find reasons to learn. Give students recognition and respect by treating them as individuals and respecting their values. By doing this, you can positively influence their self-esteem and motivation for learning.
- Association: It is easier to learn something new if the material builds on information already learned or on previous experiences.
- Repetition: Review of material and practice of skills help students learn. However, they need to be at the appropriate level for the learner. In addition, learners need to know how they are doing. Prompt and accurate feedback tells them whether they have performed correctly and how to improve their performance. When correcting students, try to point out something positive about their work as well.
- Senses: Learning takes place more easily when more than one sense is involved — seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and feeling. Using as many senses as possible reinforces learning and helps students remember. Learning occurs best when students are actively involved in the learning process.
Summarizing: In closing a session or segment of a session, the function of summarizing is used to clarify the key learning concepts or objective presented or, in some cases, to test for learning. This action helps to reinforce learning and gives a sense of closure to a segment or topic.

Most undergraduate programs in secondary education prepare students for licensure in the state in which the program is accredited. This license is required to teach in all public schools.
Complete a Bachelor’s Degree and Teacher Preparation Program
State requirements or preferred degree programs can vary. Generally, students will complete a major in the subject area they intend to teach with a minor in education or with concurrent enrollment in a teacher preparation program. However, some schools have students major in secondary education and minor in the particular subject area in which they plan to teach. Whether a student is enrolled in a teacher preparation program or another type of education degree, they generally complete a student teaching or mentorship teaching component in the program.
Quality assurance requires professional standards of teacher education and an effective mechanism of accreditation of teacher education institutions and programs. The Policy and Planning Wing of the Ministry of Education (MoE) in collaboration with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is implementing Strengthening Teacher Education in Pakistan (STEP) project with financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (U SAID).
Under STEP Project, ‘Professional Standards for Teachers‘have been developed in consultation with stakeholders in all provinces/ areas.
